{"id":166,"date":"2014-07-31T18:18:02","date_gmt":"2014-07-31T18:18:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/yogapantsdiary.com\/?p=166"},"modified":"2014-08-05T19:07:15","modified_gmt":"2014-08-05T19:07:15","slug":"exercise-anxiety","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/yogapantsdiary.com\/?p=166","title":{"rendered":"Exercise Anxiety"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Fitness can be a great source of anxiety for some and definitely happened to me at the beginning of my journey. \u00a0I didn&#8217;t even know what my body could do with all those extra pounds packed on. \u00a0Would people laugh when they saw me trying to run? Would everyone look at me funny like &#8220;She&#8217;s too fat to exercise?&#8221; When I look back at it now it seems silly but felt very real at the beginning.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/yogapantsdiary.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/image.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-169\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/yogapantsdiary.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/image.jpg?resize=467%2C700\" alt=\"image\" width=\"467\" height=\"700\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/yogapantsdiary.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/image.jpg?w=467&amp;ssl=1 467w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/yogapantsdiary.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/image.jpg?resize=200%2C300&amp;ssl=1 200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 467px) 100vw, 467px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Set Goals!\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>When you begin working out, even just walking, make sure you set goals for what you would like to be able to do. \u00a0They can be as simple as walking to get the mail everyday to start. \u00a0I set a goal for myself at the very beginning to be able to run a mile without stopping. \u00a0I have painful memories from my school days of running a mile and being one of the last ones to finish everytime. \u00a0Every adult should be able to run a mile right? Well tomorrow is the day! \u00a0My loving friend who has been on her own journey to health adopted running right away. \u00a0She promised to run with me and not allow me to stop. \u00a0I feel like I still can&#8217;t do it on my own, but I think it&#8217;s fine to rely on others. \u00a0She&#8217;s confident that I can do it.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Anxiety&#8230;&#8230;..<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I consider myself and anxious person and I often think I&#8217;m much more naturally anxious than most people. \u00a0I thought that when I would run in the neighborhood, people were probably watching. \u00a0I felt anxiety when I joined the gym that I wouldn&#8217;t be able to keep up with everyone else and they would wonder what the heck I was doing there. \u00a0I still get anxious some days before class because I&#8217;m just not sure I can do it. \u00a0BUT what I&#8217;ve proven to myself over and over is that I can at least try.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/yogapantsdiary.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/image1.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-170\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/yogapantsdiary.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/image1-300x214.jpg?resize=300%2C214\" alt=\"image\" width=\"300\" height=\"214\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/yogapantsdiary.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/image1.jpg?resize=300%2C214&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/yogapantsdiary.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/image1.jpg?w=500&amp;ssl=1 500w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>No One Cares!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>What I quickly discovered is that no one cares! When I see overweight people exercising now, I want to shout words of encouragement to them. \u00a0I want them to keep going and know that they can do it too! \u00a0When I started at the gym, no one judged me (at least on the outside). \u00a0They were very welcoming and encouraging as I got stronger. I couldn&#8217;t do what they could do but that only makes sense. \u00a0I&#8217;m a NEW member for \u00a0a reason. \u00a0Truth is, everyone has things they are working on and most people are too busy doing their thing to notice you. \u00a0You won&#8217;t be able to do what you did in high school. \u00a0You won&#8217;t be able to do everything you wanted to do. \u00a0BUT THAT&#8217;S OK. \u00a0After dedicated work, you will be able to do those things again. \u00a0I discovered that there was an athlete inside. \u00a0That athlete can&#8217;t get enough and can do amazing things that I never knew I could do. \u00a0Now, when I look for workouts online, I think I could do that with some practice instead of just laughing and searching for memes.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/yogapantsdiary.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/image2.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-171\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/yogapantsdiary.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/image2.jpg?resize=250%2C333\" alt=\"image\" width=\"250\" height=\"333\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/yogapantsdiary.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/image2.jpg?w=250&amp;ssl=1 250w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/yogapantsdiary.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/image2.jpg?resize=225%2C300&amp;ssl=1 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 250px) 100vw, 250px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>So tomorrow I will run a mile. \u00a0What if I fail? What if I can&#8217;t do it? What if I die?
