{"id":647,"date":"2015-01-25T13:44:48","date_gmt":"2015-01-25T20:44:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/yogapantsdiary.com\/?p=647"},"modified":"2015-03-29T17:35:22","modified_gmt":"2015-03-29T23:35:22","slug":"a-new-yardstick","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/yogapantsdiary.com\/?p=647","title":{"rendered":"A New Yardstick"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Lately the switch from losing weight to maintenance has been really difficult.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve been feeling less sexy, confident and proud of what I&#8217;ve accomplished.\u00a0 THIS IS NOT a ploy to get tons of compliments of how good I look in this post&#8217;s comments.\u00a0 It&#8217;s just the truth.\u00a0 My hubby and I were discussing it last night and he helped me figure out part of it.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m addicted to the numbers on the scale.<\/p>\n<p>I would get excited every morning to get on the scale.\u00a0 I&#8217;d step on and see the lower number I was hoping to see and I would feel PROUD.\u00a0 I&#8217;d fist pump the air and think about how awesome I was.\u00a0 This would be the height of most days.\u00a0 Seeing your hard work pay off is such an emotional high!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/yogapantsdiary.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/scale.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-650\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/yogapantsdiary.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/scale.jpg?resize=375%2C354\" alt=\"scale\" width=\"375\" height=\"354\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/yogapantsdiary.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/scale.jpg?w=375&amp;ssl=1 375w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/yogapantsdiary.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/scale.jpg?resize=300%2C283&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/yogapantsdiary.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/scale.jpg?resize=150%2C142&amp;ssl=1 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 375px) 100vw, 375px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Now when I get on the scale in the morning, I&#8217;m hoping to see the same number.\u00a0 I keep coming back to this.\u00a0 I know I should see the same number.\u00a0 The doctor told me not to lose more weight.\u00a0 I am actually NOT wanting to see it go down. So I get on and think, great, I ate enough yesterday.\u00a0 No fist pump.\u00a0 No rush of awesomeness. Just&#8230;&#8230;ok good.<\/p>\n<p>So much of my &#8216;awesomeness factor&#8217; was tied to seeing the number go down.\u00a0 I thought I wasn&#8217;t so bad or addicted to the numbers, but now that I don&#8217;t have them, I&#8217;m feeling lost.\u00a0 It&#8217;s the easiest way to measure your health and fitness right? If the number goes down, you made the right choices. What do I measure by now? My abilities in fitness change so slowly that over time it&#8217;s hard to feel like you&#8217;re getting better.\u00a0 It could take me another 6 months to be able to meet my pull up goal.\u00a0 It&#8217;s too cold to hike my first 14er or start marathon training.<\/p>\n<p>I know in the spring it will be a lot easier to measure my fitness when I&#8217;m training for a half marathon.\u00a0 I will be able to literally measure how far I can run.\u00a0 Right now though&#8230;&#8230;I feel lost. I know it should be a great relief to not be buying new pants every month and have met my goal weight.
