I managed to follow my running schedule and improve my times.\u00a0 On today&#8217;s run, I had personal bests across the board!\u00a0 Here&#8217;s what I learned about being a runner this week:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/yogapantsdiary.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/Spring.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-803\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/yogapantsdiary.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/Spring.jpg?resize=420%2C294\" alt=\"Spring\" width=\"420\" height=\"294\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/yogapantsdiary.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/Spring.jpg?w=420&amp;ssl=1 420w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/yogapantsdiary.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/Spring.jpg?resize=300%2C210&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/yogapantsdiary.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/Spring.jpg?resize=150%2C105&amp;ssl=1 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 420px) 100vw, 420px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Mother Nature sucks <\/strong>&#8211; I only like to run outside.\u00a0 If I have to run on a treadmill for over an hour, I&#8217;ll kill somebody.\u00a0 This week, mother nature forgot to check my running schedule before sending us several inches of wet slushy snow.\u00a0 My usual running days are Tuesday, Thursday, Sunday and sometimes Saturday.\u00a0 On Thursday, I was planning a &#8216;quick&#8217; hour at the gym and then 4 miles.\u00a0 BUT instead it snowed all day.\u00a0 I was unable to run so I just put extra time in at the gym.\u00a0 On Friday, it was still raining and snowing.\u00a0 I have started a Friday Fun Run club at work and we had to cancel our run.\u00a0 Around 4 or 5 it FINALLY cleared up so I could put in 3 miles before meeting friends.\u00a0 The weather really messed up my whole plan this week.\u00a0 But still better than running on a treadmill!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Temperature Matters &#8211; <\/strong>I&#8217;m still following the Jeff Galloway method and in his book he discusses temperature for running.\u00a0 I have to admit I thought this was total crap.\u00a0 I mean the difference between 40 degrees and 90 degrees would obviously change your running.\u00a0 But the difference in just 10? Give me a break.\u00a0 But I think there&#8217;s some truth behind it!\u00a0 I&#8217;ve been recording my runs in a journal and how they felt along with the temperatures.\u00a0 Galloway claims that when the temp is below 60 degrees, you can run nearly 30 seconds faster per mile.\u00a0 While I haven&#8217;t looked into my stats that closely, my times are definitely better when the weather is below 60.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/yogapantsdiary.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/weird-wonderful-pictures-of-the-week-23rd-august-2013-2-1377087855-view-0.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-804\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/yogapantsdiary.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/weird-wonderful-pictures-of-the-week-23rd-august-2013-2-1377087855-view-0.jpg?resize=460%2C374\" alt=\"weird--wonderful-pictures-of-the-week---23rd-august-2013-2-1377087855-view-0\" width=\"460\" height=\"374\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/yogapantsdiary.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/weird-wonderful-pictures-of-the-week-23rd-august-2013-2-1377087855-view-0.jpg?w=460&amp;ssl=1 460w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/yogapantsdiary.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/weird-wonderful-pictures-of-the-week-23rd-august-2013-2-1377087855-view-0.jpg?resize=300%2C244&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/yogapantsdiary.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/weird-wonderful-pictures-of-the-week-23rd-august-2013-2-1377087855-view-0.jpg?resize=150%2C122&amp;ssl=1 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 460px) 100vw, 460px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Weird Runners &#8211; <\/strong>As much as I hardly see the other runners when I&#8217;m out, there are always a few that I can&#8217;t help but notice.\u00a0 Today was long sleeve weather but I still saw a guy running in what appeared to be a speedo and carrying the rest of his clothes. \u00a0 And I&#8217;m thinking, &#8220;Dude.\u00a0 I&#8217;m on mile 7 and still wearing all my clothes. Did you lose a bet or something?&#8221; There are people that breathe weird.\u00a0 People that run weird. (Pretty sure that you&#8217;re boobs shouldn&#8217;t be hitting you in the face, pretty sure) All you can hope for, is that you&#8217;re not one of them.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Stupid After <\/strong>&#8211; I become completely stupid after a long run.\u00a0 Twice now, I&#8217;ve met a friend for coffee at the end of my run.\u00a0 Both times, I can&#8217;t even order my coffee correctly.\u00a0 My brain has been in the zone for so long that it&#8217;s hard for it to crawl back out.\u00a0 It usually lasts about a half hour.\u00a0 Keep this in mind when scheduling things close to a run.\u00a0 I also find that I don&#8217;t have the concentration and reaction time to drive for a while afterwards.\u00a0 Maybe I&#8217;m the only one, but I&#8217;m completely stupid after a run.\u00a0 My body needs carbs and hydration pronto and then I usually feel much better!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/yogapantsdiary.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/post-13187-I-cannot-brain-today-I-has-the-O8cG.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-806\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/yogapantsdiary.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/post-13187-I-cannot-brain-today-I-has-the-O8cG.jpg?resize=525%2C350\" alt=\"post-13187-I-cannot-brain-today-I-has-the-O8cG\" width=\"525\" height=\"350\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/yogapantsdiary.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/post-13187-I-cannot-brain-today-I-has-the-O8cG.jpg?w=900&amp;ssl=1 900w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/yogapantsdiary.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/post-13187-I-cannot-brain-today-I-has-the-O8cG.jpg?resize=300%2C200&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/yogapantsdiary.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/post-13187-I-cannot-brain-today-I-has-the-O8cG.jpg?resize=150%2C100&amp;ssl=1 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 767px) 89vw, (max-width: 1000px) 54vw, (max-width: 1071px) 543px, 580px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Injury <\/strong>&#8211; Both the hubby and I suffered an injury this week.\u00a0 Dan has a broken foot from our run last week so he isn&#8217;t running at all right now.\u00a0 I&#8217;m encouraging him to go for walks to keep his foot moving but I&#8217;ve grounded him from running until it heels a little more.\u00a0 I also suffered a non-running injury this week.\u00a0 I have a chest injury that you can read all about later this week.\u00a0 I think it&#8217;s a cracked rib or torn something or tweaked ligament.\u00a0 Either way it hurts and has been affecting my breathing all week.\u00a0 The day it happened, I didn&#8217;t realize it&#8217;s degree of pain and ran anyway.\u00a0 This was not smart.\u00a0 I ran 4 miles and felt like total crap.\u00a0 My time sucked and my chest hurt worse.\u00a0 Each day, I continued to exercise per my trainer&#8217;s recommendation but adjusted exercises as much as possible.\u00a0 I would then decide if my body could handle the next day based on if it felt better.\u00a0 Each day I feel better and stronger even while working out.\u00a0 My point here &#8211; some injuries can be worked through, some can not.\u00a0 Listen to your body!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This week I logged 16 miles!\u00a0 Today I went for my long run of 9 whole miles!\u00a0 I still can&#8217;t believe my endurance can carry me that far.\u00a0 Even with an injury this week, (more on that later and my first ROUNDS IN THE RING!)
